Term 4 off to a busy start!

Well it's week 2 already, we have 5 new children to welcome to Pohutukawa this term. 

Welcome to Kaitlyn, Briley, Zoe, Karanamu and Codi-Jae - we hope you will be very happy at Sockburn. We have a pirate theme happening this term and we are all looking forward to the Disco this Thursday too!

We are so lucky to have Ross from Kelly Sports coming to teach us new games and skills in PE each Tuesday afternoon. Here we are in action!

Sharing our Writing

We are learning how to use Explain Everything to share our learning with our school community and have been finding out how to take a photo, use the photo and record our voices. These pieces of writing were just too amazing not to share!

Explain everything

The Monkeys literacy group have been learning new skills on the iPads with the Explain Everything app. 

They have learnt how to take a photo, upload it, add text, draw a picture and record their voices to share their learning. We are looking forward to sharing more of our learning with you soon!

Canterbury Museum Visit

Today we were lucky to go and visit Canterbury museum to learn about the Early Maori settlers and the food they ate, how they caught it, stored it and what they ate. Then we got to explore the rest of the museum and even had time to enjoy some sunshine!

Learning new words

We have been practicing how to write lots of new words using our word card fans.

We copy the word a few times and then try to write it by ourselves.

Making numbers

At action station time today Blake W and Travis had the fantastic idea to create numbers using the construction equipment. Aren't they clever!

On Tuesday afternoon we had lots of fun learning new games and developing our ball skills. We were balancing, bouncing, catching and rolling.
